Galileo Enoteca: The romance of Italian wine and dining

Galileo Enoteca in Mandaluyong is a hidden gem located in an unsuspecting corner of Mandaluyong, perfect for a quiet night out with the one you love.

A stone’s throw from the dining centers of SM Megamall and Shangri-La Plaza, it is an Italian-inspired hideaway: a thoughtfully adorned brick-and-wood cellar, infused with the warmth of a country home. Not too fancy to be intimidating; not too casual to be commonplace–a deliberate balance of the two. Bring a date here because it’s great place to enjoy long conversations over good food and excellent drink.

Galileo has also recently opened a branch along the Eastwood City Walk (details below). Though more spacious and located in a mainstream food district, the new restaurant is just as cozy and inviting as the original.

Galileo's interiors are cozy and inviting. Great for get-togethers with your family or barkada.

Their kitchen serves up hearty Italian food that goes perfectly with a glass of the right wine. Classic Italian fare such as pasta, panini, pizza and more are in good supply and competitively priced with other mid-range Italian fare around the city–maybe even less expensive than the competition (~P300-450/dish). Their food is hearty and authentic, free of the franchise taste and feel that many Italian eateries suffer from. This makes their dining experience unique and special.

If you aren’t experienced in pairing wine with your meal, the restaurant staff is well-versed in what to recommend newcomers. It must be mentioned that the Galileo crew is top-notch. They are thoughtful, courteous and friendly. If you need help making a decision about your food or drink, they can give input that actually has substance. Before your meal, accept their free samples of different wines. And on your way out, grab something at the deli which is well stocked with cheese, prosciutto, pancetta and salami that you can enjoy at home.
